The Plaza Theater

This shot was taken for the American Cancer Society's Portraits of Hope series I shot in June 2016. They have been married for over 52 years and they are both survivors of their own individual cancer. When the ACS approached me, they thought I would simply do quick studio portraits, but that isn't my style! While talking to the couple, they told me that they still have movie night and she started to watch movies at the Plaza when she was a little girl.

I was granted permission to shoot inside the theater via the ACS. Entrance is not necessarily open to the public without paying for a ticket, so if you'd like to shoot there, you need to arrange permission yourself, and probably not anytime directly before a performance.
